A pharmacist refused to serve a mother-of-two with a prescription for the contraceptive pill because it went against her religious beliefs.
Shocked Janine Deeley, 38, initially thought the female pharmacist must be joking, but became angry when she was told to try another chemist or come back the next day when someone else was on duty.
Miss Deeley said she is prescribed the pill by her GP because she suffers from a condition which causes painful periods.

Whoa -- how did the chemist even get through their training? Did it NEVER occur to her that a large percentage of their customers and their livelihood depend on precisely such prescriptions?
She ought to be fired and her license revoked.

Obviously this woman needs a change of profession posthaste. Religious convictions are not a valid reason to refuse to refill a prescription. Were I this patient & got pregnant I'd sue the pharmacist for child support. Let these religious nuts put their money where their mouths are for a change.
I feel pretty lost on this one as well. She was not even seeking contraception, however that is not the issue. The WHY of a prescription is none of the pharmacist/chemist's business, they are to follow the doctors RX order, and fill it.
But let's say that she WAS seeking contraception, would a better alternative and less offensive to this person's religious beliefs be the girl becoming pregnant and then perhaps having an abortion? It's all too ridiculous.
